Hello painting friends. We are very excited to tell you about our
NEW ONLINE PAINTING COURSE

This will be our first online painting course and it will be available worldwide to all subscribers that have high speed internet access,
and speak the English language.  THE ONLINE COURSE IS DESIGNED ESPECIALLY FOR  BEGINNER THROUGH ADVANCED PAINTERS.

As of September 2017, we are happy to say, we have finished the taping of all the lessons that will be offered in the course. Still to be completed is the EXTRA Technique/General Information video. That should be completed sometime around the first part of December. The editing of all the lessons is now in the process of being done. The course will be designed and ready to be downloaded from our special Internet server
in just a few months.

The complete online course is professionally filmed in (HD) HIGH DEFINITION, using some of the best camera and lighting equipment available. We are so fortunate to have a very talented guy named Mark Short who owns FOTO GRAPHFX CREATIVE STUDIO, working with us. Mark is formally from New York and now resides in Sedona. His company specializes in Advertising,Graphic Design, Photography, Illustration and Motion. He has produced videos for many well known musicians, and for large companies in New York, Los Angeles , Sedona and in the Phoenix area. DO YOU HAVE THE  DESIRE TO LEARN TO OIL PAINT ?  

Have you ever seen the beautiful oil paintings in art shows, or in books, classes, or studios that your friends have done? Or seen the many nice paintings posted on artists websites or on social media, and said to yourself, I wish I could do that. I really would love to learn to paint, but I don't have any talent. Well I have to tell you, people are not born with talent. Very few people may have some incredible talent at a very young age, but that is extremely  rare.  WHAT IS AN ONLINE PAINTING COURSE ? 

Our online ''PAINT WITH PASSION''  is a Floral /Still Life  course that is painted in oils. It will be made up of several full  length  painting  videos ,plus an extra Technique/General Information video, that can all be  accessed and downloaded  from your computer. Color photos of each of the finished paintings ,a written supply list and full size pattens for each painting will also be available to download for people that register for the course. Because each painting instructed is a little long, each of the paintings will be broken down into segments/parts, for easier downloading. All of the course material will be ready for you to start downloading, once the registration period ends. All the instructional material will be held for you by our special server so you can download it any time you want, whenever it is convenient for you.  

WHO CAN HAVE ACCESS TO THE ONLINE COURSE

Our ''PAINT WITH PASSION''  course is available to any persons WORLDWIDE that has high speed Internet access and is able to read  the English language.

Downloading the items in the course will be easy and user friendly.

Any persons that fills out the required registration form to subscribe to the course, and pays the fee for the full course. Once you register for the course and pay for the subscription fee, you will need to fill out a form on your computer stating the specific information that is required. Each subscriber will be assigned their own special password/code, which will allow you to log onto the course so you can start downloading all the material. All subscribers names and passwords will be kept on fil in our Jenkins Art Studio master list. 

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN IN THE ONLINE COURSE

All material for the course will be instructed by Gary and myself. We both have been working as full time professional artists/teachers for well over 40 years. We have been involved in almost every phase of the art business that there is. In our "PAINT WITH PASSION" online course we will show you the many painting techniques that we have developed and made popular to students around the world through our many HOW-TO books, videos,DVDS, teaching seminars and the airing of our long time weekly International PBS Television series,''THE BEAUTY OF OIL PAINTING''

Students will learn about brush stroke techniques, composition and design , setting up a still life., lighting your set- up, mixing colors, what brushes to use and their different styles and when to use them. What mediums to use and when or when not to use them. Each video lesson will show you how to paint a beautiful  completed Floral/Still Life painting.In addition to to learning to paint several types of decorative vases and pots, you will learn to paint some realistic, yet simple to do ,fruit. You will learn how to use simple fabric swatches to enhance the backgrounds of your Still Life set up. We will also teach you how to paint many different types of flowers and foliage, using easy to follow,  slow ,detailed strokes. We will show you how and what to use to prepare the background of your  canvas using acrylic, before you start to use the oil paint. Different quick and easy  background and foreground techniques will also be demonstrated. 

All of the paintings are taught in the well known Jenkins style, which is a semi-loose, but a very realistic style. They are NOT real loose impressionism ,nor are they really tight photo realism. Each of the paintings are taught very slowly and detailed and in an easily understandable manner

SPECIAL TECHNIQUES/GENERAL INFORMATION  VIDEO

In addition to the individual painting  videos ,we have added a special feature for you that will be a Technique /General Information video. This will talk about supplies needed for the course, what brands we recommend ,setting up your painting space, care and cleaning of your brushes, mediums and their uses.Varnishing your paintings. Why do you need to varnish, what we use and how to apply it. What is Graphite paper.? How to use it to transfer the patterns onto the canvas.

We will also show  you how to apply some decorative borders to your paintings. Simple accent borders using Gold Leaf, Embossed Gold Leaf  and the use of Stencils.

And most important, on this Technique video, I will demonstrate many of the elements that are in each of the individual painting videos.For example,I will demonstrate in very slow detail, how to paint several of the flowers and foliage, that are in each painting.in each painting. I will show directional brush stroke lines, the push down- lift up and sweep away stroke, when to use the paint in a thin, watercolor like consistency and when to use it in a thicker or dry consistency. More information will be shown how to paint and blend the many different kinds of brush strokes for the backgrounds, such as vertical, horizontal , and criss-cross strokes.There will also be more detailed information about mixing the oil colors. The Technique video will be a long play lesson so it will be broken down into several segments/chapters for easier downloading. So if you wish to skip over some of the general information material, you can do so, or if you wish to view some of the painting demos multiple times, then the different segments will make that easy for you.

MORE SPECIAL FEATURES OF THE ONLINE COURSE

FACEBOOK PAGE: There will be a PRIVATE Facebook page set up for all subscribers of the course.On this FB page,if students wish to, they can post pictures of the paintings they are doing in the course. They can post their paintings in the work in progress or the finished stage, so that other students in the course can see and comment on each others work. Students can share their special thoughts about their painting experiences and ideas ,and talk about their love of painting with other students that have the same interest.

PERSONAL CRITIQUES: On the Private Facebook page, and for the students that request it, we will be happy to give you good, constructive critiques/comments on your paintings as you progress through the course. That way, other students can also learn from each other and how some of the comments can help them with their own work.              NOTE;  Since all critiques will be given by Gary or myself, this will be done on a ''as time allows'' basis.

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION

Once the students complete all the paintings in the course, they can EMAIL us photos of their paintings. Once we have seen all of your finished paintings, you will be sent a CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION, stating that you have participated in the ''PAINT WITH PASSION'' online course and you have successfully completed all the paintings. The certificate will be personally signed by Gary and I, and will either be available to download or will be mailed to you.

This is a separate  long play video showing how to paint many of the elements in great detail  that are in the 8 painting videos. Also, much more information on this video.It will be INSTRUCTED by Kathwren Jenkins. 

This  separate Technique video will be  3 to 4 hours in length. 

*** COLOR PHOTO

A nice size color photo of each of the 8 paintings will be included. 

*** FULL SIZE PATTERNS

A full size pattern that you can transfer onto your canvas will be included for each of the 8 paintings.

NOTE; You do not have to use the pattern if you don't wish to. If you are good at drawing , you may want to draw the compositions free hand. But if you are not very proficient at drawing, we recommend using the patterns. It is very convenient ,saves you a lot of time and you will be  assured that your drawing is very accurate. ALL PATTERNS ARE SIZED FOR 14X18 AND 16X20 CANVAS.

***A COMPLETE SUPPLY LIST

A complete written supply list for all the supplies needed for the course will be included. Oil paint list, mediums ,brushes ,and other miscellaneous supplies. Names, sizes and styles of brushes will be listed. Also ,what oil paint brands we recommend. We will also include some names and contact  information on where to find many of the materials listed.

Most people know us from our many years as hosts of our International television series and our many years of teaching national seminars, and from our books and DVDs. 

First of all, so you can be assured  that you will be receiving very good, quality artwork and instruction with our ''PAINT WITH PASSION'' online course , we would like to give you a brief history of our long professional art careers.

TELEVISION SERIES

''BEAUTY OF OIL PAINTING'' and ''JENKINS ART STUDIO''

For the past thirty_three years, hundreds  of thousands of people who love to paint,or want to learn to paint, have tuned in to watch the weekly PBS television series, which was broadcast on approximately 110  nationwide stations  annually. The TV series was also seen by many people in Canada ,along the United States border..During the past ten years, the shows were also broadcast on television stations in European countries such as Germany, the Netherlands,Austria, and Great Britain.,to name a few.''THE BEAUTY OF OIL PAINTING'' and ''JENKINS ART STUDIO''  hosted by Gary Jenkins  with guest artist Kathwren Jenkins ,has been the longest-running  how-to art program on television, producing a new series every year.From 1983 to 2015 a total of  450 1/2 hour shows were produced.(28 full series)  For nearly all the TV series , a companion art instruction book was written by Kathwren. The Jenkinses were the second artists ever to appeared on national television.

SEMINAR TEACHING

For many years ,before and during the television productions ,we traveled  as a team ,extensively around the U.S. for up to three weeks of every month, ten month a year, to over thirty states, to teach our very popular oil painting seminars.Gary also traveled to Germany for the last ten years to teach the Jenkins Certified Art Teacher Training Courses.(J-CAT) Kathwren traveled to Germany  with Gary to teach three weeks of the course the first year. ..For several years, we personally taught our Certification courses in the U.S. and as of 2017 they are still being taught in Germany. But these are now taught by our staff teachers. In addition to over three decades of travel teaching, we taught seminars in our five personal studios ,and in other venues in our  local area.We also hosted and coordinated many seminars in our studios for other well -known national teachers.

JENKINS VISION

One of the other things we have done during our very long careers includes starting our art video production company , Jenkins Vision. As far as we know ,we were the first artists in the United States to produce our own VHS videos  on art instruction. This was started in 1980,at the time when there were hardly any consumer video cameras on the market.

AT THE BEGINNING

ART SCHOOL AND FIRST JOBS

Going back a couple of decades ,before the television and video businesses,Gary graduated at the top of his class in 1962 ,from the four-year program at the school of art, Ringling , in Sarasota, Florida.Upon graduation, he worked as a key- line artist for a well-known greeting card company in Los Angelas,California.From threshe worked for a large national art store chain, Aaron Brothers,in Los Angelas.He worked for AB for fifteen years, first as a custom framer ,then as a store managersnd eventually ,he was painting wholesale for the store. For many years,Gary worked at the store during the daysnd painted at home most nights and weekends.Aaron Bros. bought as many paintings as Gary could produce, eventually marketing more then sixty of his paintings into Lithographic prints. Garys original paintings were sold  to fine art galleries all over the U.S.  by Aaron Bros. and his personal art agent. At times ,during the 1970s,,several of Gary's  prints were used on sets of well- known television sitcoms and his prints were were also sold to hotels for decor for  their rooms.

FIRST CLASSES/SEMINARS

After a few years  of painting for  Aaron Bros. ,Gary was asked to teach  classes on the showroom floor. Soon, word got around that he was teaching and he was asked to teach at several art studios all over California, Washington, Oregon and Nevada. In 1980 ,while teaching in Nevada , that is when Gary and I met.  I had been teaching at my local studio at the time. But thats a whole other story. Gary was one of the first art teachers to travel around and teach what is known as one and two-day seminars. Many new studios had never had traveling teachers before Gary started going to them. These seminars eventually grew into one week seminars.During these early teaching years ,Gary also began giving painting demonstrations at art associations around the West coast.Soon he was travel teaching so much, that he had to leave Aaron Brothers. Not long after that, the opportunity presented itself to become a television host. 

NATIONAL SEMINARS/CONVENTIONS/JENKINS SIGNITURE PRODUCTS

Gary and I teamed up in 1980 a couple years before the start of the TV series. With the popularity of the television series, word soon spread and invitations were coming in from all over the country for us to teach at national studios. For the television series we had designed many Jenkins Signature products, which were manufactured by our TV sponsor at the time. These products were sold  to large distributors nationwide during the Television years. We also appeared as guest artists and demonstrators at many large ,national trade conventions all over the U.S.  

 OTHER THINGS ALONG THE WAY

MAIL ORDER

Around  1981, we started our own mail order business ,selling our first VSH  videos, my first self published NON -TV books, and later selling our TV books and signature products. To this day ,we still conduct our mail order bussiness.We have participated in several outdoor juried fine art shows while living in Florida. 

ART RETREAT

We ran an art retreat  while living in Florida. For 2 weeks each month, 2 groups of 15 people a week lodged  in our home, took week-long certification classes, and ate 3 meals a day. The Jenkins Art Retreat was very successful, and lasted 6 years, until it wore us out.

GALLERIES

We have also owned our own art galleries, showed our work in juried  fine art shows. We have also judged fine art shows.  In the past ,our paintings have been shown in SIMICS FINE ART GALLERY  in Carmel, California, as well as other galleries in CA. and NV. Gary's work can currently be seen in the SEDONA ARTS CENTER fine art gallery in Sedona,Az.  

PUBLICATIONS/AWARDS

Several years ago, Gary was featured in American Artists magazine. Gary and Kathwren were also featured in Decorative Artist magazine

In  1997, Gary entered a  Floral painting contest sponsored by North Light books.There were more then 2,000 entries from Floral painters that were living in the U.S. and were full time professional artists.Gary was one of the 200 winning artists chosen and were published in the hard cover North Light book ''THE BEST OF FLOWER PAINTERS''  

RETIRED FROM TELEVISION

In 2015 Gary and I permanently retired from producing our PBS television series.,and as of summer 2017 ,we both have retired form travel teaching.

CURRENT SEMINARS OFFERED

Currently ,Gary and I are  personally teaching  our 4-DAY SEMI- PRIVATE seminars in our home studio in Sedona, Arizona. These are very special seminars for beginner through advanced students.We only accept 5 students per class at one time.This has been a welcome change for us, as opposed to constant travel teaching and having between 15- 20 students in class each day. For the past 4 years ,these classes have been very popular, with students attending from all over the United States, Canada, and Europe.Seminars fill over a year in advanced, but we do encourage students to go on our wait list

50 YEARS IN THE ART BUSSINESS

CURRENT VENTURES

Gary and I have each been oil painting for more then 50 years . We specialize in FLORAL ,EXOTIC BIRDS and FISH.

We are excited to launch our first worldwide online course in 2018.

Gary is producing Giclee prints on canvas of many of his newest paintings.

We will continue to teach our Sedona  semi private seminars.

We continue to conduct our online mail order business.

We occasionally will continue to do LIVE STREAM painting demonstrations on FACEBOOK.

Gary paints for the Sedona Arts Center fine art gallery in Sedona. He will be the featured artist for MARCH and APRIL 2018.

 FAMILY

Between Gary and I , we have 4 grown children, 6 Grand children, 2 Great Grand children.

So as you can seen, Gary and I have been involved in just about every facet of the art business.
